Easter has always been a huge holiday in our house. Something my sisters Carly, Emilee, Lily and myself were looking forward to every year.
I am Dani, and we are living in this house all by ourselves since our parents passed away two years ago. As long as I remember, I remember how Mom was into decorating the whole house for Easter. There wasn’t any room that didn’t have Forsythia branches with eggs hanging on them, blooming Daffodils, or Easter nests.

That year – a few days before Easter she even convinced dad to give the walls a fresh paintjob before she started decorating. When we got home from school, we were surprised by the colors they chose. Mom said she had no idea since dad did it all by himself and we eventually believed her after we saw her watery eyes. The whole house was painted in pastel colors. Some tears of joy were rolling down her face when she kissed dad like a shy girl kissing her first love.
Good Friday, my sisters and I started painting eggs. The whole house was already decorated nicely. Mom and dad went for a walk and promised us to get us a huge surprise on their way back. Lily said she overheard they were getting us little chicks but we didn’t believe her.
It was Good Friday when we saw our parents the last time.
