Cirque Dreams Holidaze December 12 through 16, 2018 Chicago Theater

The Cirque Dreams Holidaze is, in a word, “magical”.
It’s a circus, live, on-stage, without the lions and elephants, and other distractions away from the amazing talents of the performers. It’s warm, funny, VERY family friendly, engaging, unbelievable, and a host of other superlative adjectives, each in turn, but more often several at once. There’s multiple pairs of acrobatic dancers twirling from the trapeze, rings, or just wisps of cloud-like fabric. Jugglers, of course, dazzling and fascinating as they show their skill in keeping everything in precise order, fluidly passing from hand to hand, bouncing off the floor in a seemingly endless stream. Actors with obvious professional dance skills move gracefully about, prancing and twirling, even while moving effortlessly high above the stage, suspended on those cloths, or by merely a strap around one’s head, the other secured in the TEETH or the other dancer-acrobat.
Throughout the performance is the fun and humor that captures the essence of a great circus. A few members of the audience are selected to join the fun, and everyone gets engaged in the act.
The performers are from around the world, Ukraine, Ethiopia, Mongolia, Italy and France (as well as some other exotic places) and have obviously trained relentlessly in order to put on such a perfect show, so precisely and accurately, so fluidly and yet comically, or with equal fluidity and grace in a sweeping, profound, delicate romance.
It’s playing throughout the area through January. Take the family and go see this. Everyone comes away happy and enriched by the experience. GO.
